Visco-Supplementation

Visco-Supplementation is an injectable treatment for early osteoarthritis of the knee. The active ingredient is Sodium Hyaluronate which is found in normal synovial fluid.

When you have arthritis the concentration of Hyaluron decreases and the synovial fluid becomes thinner and less viscous. Injecting Hyaluron into the knee joint increases the viscosity of the synovial fluid and normalizes the pH. This creates a more protective environment that reduces pain and inflammation.

The injections are performed in the theatre under sterile conditions. There is minimal discomfort during and after the procedure. You are able to resume normal activities afterwards. The procedure provides relief for up to 12 months.
